Today, May 22, is the International Day for Biological Diversity. This year’s theme is “Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism”. Why not use BioAtlas Sweden and be a ‘biodiversity tourist at home’? Just go to Occurrences and you can find all plants and animals reported from your area.
While there is a growing recognition that biological diversity is a global asset of tremendous value to present and future generations, the number of species is being significantly reduced by human activities. May 22 has been proclaimed “The International Day for Biological Diversity” by the United Nations to increase the understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. This year’s theme is an opportunity to put the focus on the important contribution of sustainable tourism both to economic growth and to the conservation of biodiversity.
